After a scathing month in the media the Augusta Aquatics Center had to shut down due to a scare this week.

The sharks which were quickly identified as toys by one swimmer were placed in the water to dissuade patrons.

According to staff the sharks were used to prevent swimmers from entering the water due to a budget shortfall.

“ The water requires chlorine which costs money and due to a reallocation of our budget funds to the mayors office we have to reduce the number of swimmers at the facility”

After the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded and fingerprinted the toys it was quickly determined that Mayor Hardie Davis had placed the sharks in the water in an attempt to get the center shut down.

When questioned Davis responded that he was trying to get the budget for the aquatics center reallocated to his own credit card fund.

“After all. nobody in Richmond County swims in the facility anyway.”
