Augusta overwhelmingly shot down a proposal to build a new $235M arena but the project is going to come back and be voted on again in the spring. This time the Coliseum Authority has solicited help from city administrator Odie Donald citing he is masterful and convincing citizens to do something they don’t want to do and making them think it was their idea.
If successful Donald stands to make 15% commission/bonus on whatever the total project cost turns out to be. It is expected that other commissioners and the mayor will also get a bonus for helping to sell the project to citizens causing the cost to go well over $750M.
