Sheriff Roundtree is getting desperate to recruit deputies. His new recruitment incentive package includes free steroids and immunity from their use.
Roundtree stated that nobody wants to come work for him. “They all want to go work in Columbia County or Burke County. I have no idea why they would not want to work for me. I am a very laid back easy to get along with guy.”
When questioned about the department’s historic problems with abusing steroids Roundtree stated that by making them free and available to all deputies, he was solving the problem.
“If they are all doing it we can’t punish them all. We can’t fire them all. We have to have a police force. So if you can’t beat them we might as well join them.
