The City of Augusta has claimed to be the most open and transparent government in years. In support of that mission, they are now requiring journalists to wear the new “Transparency Headgear” to any meeting or interview conducted.

“The headgear must be worn at all commission meetings, board of education meetings, anytime talking with the sheriff’s office, and anytime interviewing a city official,” City Administrator Odie Donald stated.

Mayor Hardie Davis stated the headgear was in support of his “Open Augusta” initiative promoting transparency in government.
