In an effort to beautify Augusta the Ironman competition is adding weed picking as a fourth event.
The picking is to occur in downtown corridor and the winner is based on who fills the most buckets of weeds first.
The idea came from City Administrator, Odie Donald who said “The goats failed to keep all of the grass cut. Our staff failed to keep it cut. And we have earmarked federal dollars for pay raises so we cant use that to keep the city right of ways clean. We welcome Ironman’s help.”
It has been suggested that if the addition of weed picking this year is successful that next year an event called “garbage grabbing” be added.
